TREND SRMV Single Relay Module
In this article we are going to see TREND Single Relay Module for Voltage and Current Device Technical data's.
Welcome to the Insight Control System Blog Page.
Basic's of Relay:
A relay is an electromechanical or solid-state switch that
allows a low-power control circuit to operate a high-power circuit safely. It
is widely used in automation, motor control, and electrical protection systems.
Types of Relays
- Electromechanical Relays (EMR): Use a physical switch mechanism.
- Solid State Relays (SSR): Use semiconductors for switching, no moving parts.
- Latching Relays: Maintain their state even after the control signal is removed.
- Time-Delay Relays: Introduce a delay before switching.
Relay Configurations:
- SPST (Single Pole Single Throw)
- SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw)
- DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw)
Highlights of TREND SRMV Relay:
- The Single Relay Module enables a controller output signal to drive a single changeover relay.
- This allows plant of up to 8A at 240 Volt ac resistive to be switched by the relay contacts.
- The module may either be mounted on a DIN rail or on a flat surface.
- There are two versions: the SRMV accepts a 0-10 Volt signal, and the SRMAC accepts a 0-24 Volt ac signal (example, triac output).
- SRMV converts a 10 Volt dc analogue output signal to a 8 Amps relay output.
- SRM AC converts a 24 Volt ac (triac) output signal to a 10 Amps relay output.
PRODUCT ORDER CODES:
- SRMV 0 to 10 Volt dc voltage driven relay (rated voltage 12 Vdc),
- SRMAC 0 to 24 Volt ac voltage driven relay (rated voltage 24 Vac),
TECHNICAL DATA:
- This Relay is used alternate of PLC input , output Analog modules.
- Box Contents: Relay SRMV & Installation Instruction,
- The module is supplied with the relay plugged into the screw terminal socket.
- Relay Contact Material: AgNi (90/10), where 90% of the material is silver (Ag) and 10% is nickel (Ni),
- Ingress Protection (socket): IP20 (NEMA 1) ,
- 2 (Solid): protection against a solid object greater than 12.5mm, such as finger,
- 0 (water): No protection,
- Weight: 45 g,
- UL: The unit is UL rated (Canada & US)
- For SRMV/USA the unit is UL rated as ‘UL916 listed open energy management equipment accessory’.
Dimensions:
In mm: 77 mm Width , 15.5 mm Depth , 61 mm height.
In Inch: 3.03" Width , 0.61" Depth , 2.4" Height
Terminals:
- Screw with self lifting cable clamp, can accommodate two 2.5 mm2 (11 AWG) wires, or two 1.5 mm2 (16 AWG) wires with bootlace crimp.
- Operating Temperature: (-25°C to +85°C) (-13°F to +185°F),
- Operating Humidity: 0-95% rh, non-condensing,
- Storing Temperature: (-40°C to +70°C) (-40°F to +158°F),
- Storing Humidity: 0-95% rh, non-condensing,
ELECTRICAL DATA:
- The screw terminals incorporate self lifting cable clamps and can accommodate two 2.5 mm² (11 AWG) wires.
- The coil is polarity independent.
- The SRMV coil takes 17.5 milliamps (approximately) at 10 Volt dc which is within all IQ2/3 series analogue output voltage channels’ capability.
- The SRM AC takes 31.6 milliamps (ac) approximately at 24 Volt ac.
- The relay is a single pole changeover (SPDT- 1 form C).
COIL OPERATION:
SRMV :
- 12Volt dc nominal, at 576 ohm (20°C) nominal, current 17.5 milliamps (approximate) at 10Volt dc.
- Minimum operating voltage 9Volt dc.
SRM AC :
- 24 Volt ac nominal, at 350 ohm (20 °C) nominal, current 31.6 milliamps (ac) nominal at 50 Hz.
- Minimum operating voltage 18 Volt ac.
Contact Rating:
- Arc suppression recommended, see Relay Output Arc Suppression Installation Instructions.
SRMV :
- 250 Volt ac at 8 Amps (resistive load), 5 Amps (inductive load, power factor greater than 0.4); 20 Volt dc at 8 Amps (resistive load); 24 Volt dc at 2 Amps (inductive load T lesser than 30 ms).
The UL rating applies to a load up to 30 Volt
SRM AC :
- 250 Volt ac at 10 Amps (resistive load), 6 Amps (inductive load, power factor greater than 0.4); 20 Volt dc at 10 Amps (resistive load); 24 Volt dc at 2 Amps (inductive load T lesser than 30 ms).
- If SRM AC, connect triac output channel to relay (polarity independent)
INSTALLATION METHODS:
- To mount the TREND SRMV Relay on Din Rail, (Standard top hat DIN rail (DIN 46277-3, EN50022, BS5584:1978),
- The socket can be mounted either by clipping onto a standard top hat DIN rail or by screwing onto a flat surface
- The TREND SRMV should be mounted close to the IQ controller.
- If the IQ Controllers is "ON", you need to turn "OFF" the controller.
- Ensure the IQ output channel is analogue and set to voltage.
- Wire the relay module to the IQ controller.
- Ensure HVAC Equipment Power Supply is Switched off,
- If SRMV, link analogue output channel for voltage. Connect Relay to HVAC Equipment, use either normally open or normally closed contact.
Warning:
- The wires may be connected to hazardous voltages.
- Disconnect power before attempting any wiring.
- Close the Relay Module-mounted panel (the unit must be UL-rated).
- Ensure that external circuits are suitably protected against fault currents that would exceed the ratings for the switching circuits provided in this product.
- Switch on IQ Controller,
- Ensure HVAC Equipment Power Supply is Switched “ON”.
DISPOSAL:
- COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health - UK Government Regulations 2002) ASSESSMENT FOR DISPOSAL OF SRM. No parts affected.
RECYCLING:
- All plastic and metal parts are recyclable.
- The printed circuit board may be sent to any PCB recovery contractor to recover some of the components for any metals such as gold and silver
WEEE Directive:
- At the end of their useful life the packaging and product should be disposed of by a suitable recycling centre.
- Do not dispose of with normal household waste.
- Do not burn.
